However it is always prudent to shop around so once you have the price from Amazon then head to sites like cooking.com to see how much they sell the items for, or even the large comparison sites like PriceGrabber.com which show you the different price at various sites.
After you have checked out sites like those then head over to Google and try to find any other sites which may have offers on and make a note of the price they are charging. Most websites make you pay for postage and packing, Amazon is unique in that they give free shipping on everything, but shipping on other sites could be as much as $20 depending on the size of the item, so make sure when you are working out prices that you add the appropriate amount for that on.
If you do pick a smaller, less well-known site to order from then make sure you do a few quick checks before you place your order. First of all check their contact page for some company details, you should find a physical address plus a phone number just in case you have problems. Then see if they bother to use a secure page when you enter your details, a normal page starts with http:// and a secure one starts with https:// so be sure to check your browser for that. Obviously neither of those things guarantees that the website is going to be safe to deal with, but if you notice either of those things missing then at least you know it is a website you should probably avoid.
