Strategies On Fixing A Broken Laptop

A typical topic among all computer users is their stories of broken laptops. Whether they left it on top of the car and drop 1/2 way to work before watching it slide off the roof of their automobile and crash onto the concrete, turning into nothing except a bunch of plastic and circuit boards or the tale of getting up from the dining room table to go to the lavatory only to hook your foot in the power wire and drag your laptop off the table and onto the ground or at the least rip the twine out of the laptop computer. I am sure you have even got one or two stories of your own to share, one of those stories could be why you are here reading this. Searching for what you are hoping is a fast fix for your broken laptop. Don't worry, we'll cover quite a few of the common items that break on a laptop and with luck help you diagnose what is wrong with yours.

Damaged Portable Screen
If your laptop screen won't turn on or is extremely dim then this is the section for you. First we are going to look at the way to diagnose a broken portable screen that won't turn on. There are 2 probable causes for this, one is a straightforward fix and the other needs a new screen. It's possible the portable computer is just set to output to an external monitor. To change back and forth between monitors you would hold down the Fn key in the lower left hand of the keyboard and then press the reciprocal key between F1 and F12 at the very top. One of those keys will have a picture of 2 monitors. If that does not work your next test is to plug in an external monitor. If your PC displays on the external monitor then only the screen is bad and the video card is still good.

If your laptop computer screen is extremely dim and nearly impossible to see then we have got 2 fast things to test. The first has similarities to the text above, but rather than looking for the Function key that changes the monitor output, you want to find the key with the lightness setting, drumming it regularly while holding down the Fn key should brighten the screen. If you do not see any increase in the lightness then sadly your back light is most likely bad and you are going to need a P. C. repair store to replace it.

Broken Laptop Hinge
This is a problem that's really happened to me a few times and I was actually excited to find that there's a very simple fix to this difficulty. I don't want to get you to excited as it does not work all the time, but it's a straightforward thing to test. To work out if you can tighten up the hinge you'll have to remove the little plastic covers that hide the screws that hold the screen and hinges in place . Once those covers are removed you should be able to take a standard screw driver and tighten those 2 screws. If you find the screws are already snug and can't be tightened then the difficulty lies deeper and you are off to the computer maintenance shop again.

Broken Portable computer Key
No-one can explain exactly how a key disappears from the keyboard, but they mostly appear to. The best way is to just order a new key and click on it into place. Places like eBay are filled with keys single keys for each favored laptop model. Your other choice is to order a complete new keyboard which can sometimes be a little more expensive, but a few of the people would prefer to replace the entire keyboard.

Broken Laptop power
If you are reading this section you are either looking to replace or diagnose your broken power adapter or you have already replaced that and your portable computer still isn't charging. If your trying to work out if your exact power adapter is bad, the right way is to check to confirm if any led lights are lit up on the adapter. Typically it is a blue led that shows the power adapter is getting power. If that light is off when the adapter is connected into a wall port then the adapter is most likely bad. If that light is on then our next test is to turn off the laptop PC, remove the battery, and also unplug the power adapter form the wall. Now plug the power adapter into the laptop and wiggle it slightly . Does it move at all? If it feels unusually loose then the solder might have broken and the power plug on the laptop isn't correctly connected to the motherboard within the laptop PC any longer. This occurs a lot when the laptop is moved around a lot and the power rope is tugged on. If this is the problem then once more you are off to the PC repair shop. It should not be to much difficulty for them to replace and most times they can do the work in house.

Hopefully a number of these answers have been helpful in your quest to fix your broken laptop. If you feel uncomfortable trying any of these possibly fixes, then don't be disturbed. You are not the only one and its better to let a pro handle the diagnoses then to do further damages to your laptop computer.
