What is the name of electronic pen/pencil used with computer ?

I was just wondering what is the name of the electronic type pen
that is attached to computers which enables you to convert your
handwriting to typed letters/words. Has anybody used it as a
substitute for typing and is it a better option for those who write
fast but can't type fast?

Its called Stylus.

And it is an alternative, but the best thing to do is to learn to type fast. Typing is more legible and more efficient/faster once you do get the hang of it.

Actually a cheaper and even faster way is to do a 'speech to text' that would be faster than hand writing and on par with typing / maybe faster depending on how well you speak and how well the application picks up your words. sometimes you get weird errors where it thinks u said something else.
